I just finished reading Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. I wanted to write about it, because I really enjoyed it. (Erin, yet another book you'll LOVE if you haven't already read it.)
The overall storyline is that it's about the Apocalypse. The world is coming to an end, but there is a demon (the serpent who tempted Adam and Eve) and an angel (one who watched the Garden after the expulsion) who don't want the world to end. So they try to prevent the Antichrist from destroying the world. The only problem, the Antichrist has been misplaced into a normal family in the countryside of England.
The authors are British, and the book is filled with the underhanded, sly humor that sometimes you'll miss if you aren't paying attention. I kept reading parts to my hubby, parts that had made me crack up, and he would just sit there and say, "Yeah, that's funny." It isn't just funny though. It really has quite the commentary of human experience and emotion. There were some parts that really made me think of us as a human race and how we approach problems. I didn't always agree with the conclusions, but it was worth the exploration. The commentary on Heaven and Hell was also very interesting, especially since I'm LDS and have a completely opposite view of it all. It's not necessarily for everyone. If you can laugh at yourself, at contrary religious views, and at sly, British humor, go ahead and read it.
All in all, a great book.

:) It sounds like my kind of book - I've added it to my Goodreads account.
One of my all time favorites . . . ever.
