A Hard Day

So, I just got home from a week in Salt Lake City. I figured it'd be good to get away while Hubby took the bar (it went okay by the way. Results coming in October...). It was nice to visit my family. We had an immediate family reunion so I was able to see all my brothers and my sister, their spouses, and most of their kids. I will write more on this in my next post.

Monday was a hard day on many levels. My mom took Sweets and I to the airport early (no breakfast) and we spent an eventful flight to Denver. Sweets did not want to sit still, we were on a regional plane, and I was getting to my wits end. I was trying to keep Sweets occupied and prevent her from screaming. Thank goodness the flight was only an hour long.

In Denver we had to got straight to our next flight (no lunch) and that flight was packed full. I sit down and they announce that we've been delayed 40 minutes because of a mechanical problem (they had to add sealant to a cargo door and we had to wait for it to dry). THen, 30 minutes or so later, they announce that it'll take another hour. So we sit on the plane for an hour and 40 minutes before takeoff. I let Sweets run around a little bit. The hidden blessing in this was the lady sitting next to us rebooked on a different flight and left. So I had an empty seat next to me. Sweets then proceeded to fall asleep about 10 minutes before they said we were leaving and stayed asleep the rest of the flight. I watched movies the whole way (Kung Fu Panda, pretty good). Hubby borrowed a friend's car to come pick me up (more on why he had to good to see him. I still had only eaten snack food all day, not good for a pregnant lady. We ordered pizza and it was yummy.

To top it all off, while waiting on the plane so long I found out that my oldest brother, Paul, had passed away. This was a little hard to believe and also a little hard to take. Paul had put himself at arms length from our family for many years and his death made me wish I could have done more to have him be more a part of our family. After talking to my parents, I know that there really wasn't anything more I could do. He had some physical ailments that I hope have no more effect on him. I just hope he's happier now.

Needless to say, it was a hard day.
