I'm Such a Girl

For most of my life I've considered myself sort of a tomboy. Now, I've always been a little boy crazy, but I've hardly enjoyed dressing up (or nice for that matter), playing with dolls, and boys always seemed to be the more rational friends. I'm not into purses, shoes, shopping, or any of the "typical" girl things. (By the way, my daughter, at 17 months, IS, which is so odd to me.) I like action flicks and rough housing and don't mind going without a shower or getting dirty (how much of this has come from being a mom, I'm not sure anymore). Despite all this, this past week has shown how truly girly I am. Yesterday, I finished reading Pride and Prejudice for the 3rd or 4th time (lost count). Then, I finished watching the last 2 hours of the BBC production of North and South, another 1800s romance. And I was swooning. Not happy, giddy, or smiling (well, maybe a bit giddy). I was positively swooning. I never swoon. I'm not the swooning type. But I did yesterday. It's a bit embarrassing, and I'm not sure I should admit it, but man, they knew how to write romance. And the actor who plays Mr. Thornton; I have to agree with my friend Melita in saying he's sexier than Colin Firth (Mr. Darcy). You have to see the movie to believe me. Oh heavens, I'm such a girl...

Oh my gosh the guy in that movie is to die for! Yum!!! I totally agree with you he's better than Colin Firth, and I love him too. I'm pleasantly surprised to see you having girl moments. It's nice every now and again. :)

Hmm, I just finished reading North and South, but I'll have to look into the movie. It would be good to get in touch with my feminine side a little...
