Cherry Blossoms

Last Thursday and Saturday I went down (alone and then with friends) to see the cherry blossoms in DC. This is one of the reasons I love living here. Spring is gorgeous, and these trees just fill with flowers. The cherry blossoms are a huge event here: there's a festival that runs for two weeks and the Tidal Basin is always swarming with people. Thursday morning was nice because only some trees were completely in bloom and there was no one around. Saturday was another story. We went with friends down to see the Kite Festival (people bring kites of all kinds and sizes and fly them on the lawn around the Washington Monument) and walked around the Tidal Basin, or rather inched around it.
